SARAH'S STYLE EMPORIUM 24 July 2009

Last night I attended the launch party of Escapade Events, www.escapadeevents.com.au, a social networking company recently started by the beautiful Kimberley. Escapade Events has the simple philosophy to provide social occasions for women to get together and meet new people, enjoy great food and drinks, and experience all Melbourne has to offer.

Held at Tony Starr’s Kitten Club on Little Collins Street, Melbourne, www.kittenclub.com.au I could see right from the start, (a neon green door next to Bettina Liano, can’t miss it) that a venue such as this was more than perfect for the occasion. The Kitten Club is on the third floor, complete with 'love lounge' and quietly understated surrounds. The Kitten Club oozes cool while retaining a luxurious relaxed feeling, and had been decked out with balloons and a stage full of gift bags to mark the celebration that was the launch of this spectacularly good idea. It was time to party.

I made my first new friend the second I stepped inside and while we collected our complimentary cocktail – I chose theFashionista in honour of the name – conversation flowed easily and common interests were discovered and shared.

Fabulous canapés did the rounds, while the cutest little cupcakes adorned the bar simply begging to be consumed. The girls from Nailene (www.nailene.com) were on hand in the love lounge doing mini manicures, while women of all ages enjoyed their drinks and met new friends and contacts. I was especially pleased to meet Kimberley and congratulate her on such a wonderful achievement, and put faces to the names of ladies I had only interacted with on Twitter.
And in another wonderful surprise, I was lucky enough to win the door prize, a stunning laptop bag from Ladedah bags. In addition to the giftbags full of goodies and vouchers, and the top I bought at Ojay while waiting for the event to start (I know, I know, I don’t need anymore tops!!), the evening was a terrific success.
The next events Kimberley has lined up include a movie screening of Cabaret on Wednesday August 5 and a pole dancing fitness class on Friday August 14. Both events can be booked through the website, and if you join as a member you will enjoy discounts on both these and future events.
Keep an eye on www.onyamagazine.com for more details of last night’s event!

STYLEMELBOURNE

Forget being a corporate clone where your boss has forced you to the next arkward networking event, Escapade Events (EE) is for the woman ready to mix business and pleasure. If you fancy a cocktail, a mini pamper and a room filled with Melbourne women at their socialising best, subscribe to EE. The concept, developed by Director Kimberley, came from her attending an assigned networking event for personal assistants where she struggled for conversation starters and common ground with the women. Deciding that Melbourne women had many interests outside the office, EE came to life with their first official launch party last Thursday.

Not knowing what to expect, I was greeted at the door by the delightful Kimberley Smith who signed me in and the prompt staff at Tony Starr’s Kitten Club took my coat. A free cocktail on arrival, cleverly named Fashionista, Save Ferris and Sunny Bunny (anything Lychee for me please!) and a networking card to enter the door prize compeition. My friends threatened that I must not return home without winning the cocktail class for you and four friends but in order to enter I must write down two women I met that night and a common interest. After gaining the strength to decline my fifth rice paper roll, and I think there were some curry puffs and arancini in between that, I was surrounded by new friends and the social networking was underway.  Women shared fashion secrets, talked careers and compared Sugadeaux cupcakes as the circulation continued.

From the sensational catering, attentive bar staff and the eager to please Kimberley, Escapade Events Launch Party was a glittering success. Kisses and hugs to my new found friends as I carefully took my goodie bag and allowed my Nalene manicure to dry. A wonderful and affordable concept if you’ve just moved to Melbourne, looking for new friends or just looking for a fabulous night with the ladies.

A ‘Cabaret’ movie evening and a Pole Dancing event in August are filling up quickly.

WHAT TO WEAR.COM.AU   27 July 2009

Last Thursday night I drove into the city for the Launch Party of Escapade Events. It was to be held at Tony Starr's Kitten Club, 267 Little Collins Street, the only problem was, I wrote the address down as 267 Collins Street, minus the "Little"! This got me rather frazzled as I was racing up and down looking at the numbers on the buildings until a doorman opened the door and asked if he could help. I immediately said, "Yes!!!", and proceeded to explain the fact that I couldn't find where my event was and that it was at 267. He very politely said, "Well, we are 267 but we are Tiffany's", to which I replied, "I know and I love you!!!"

It was shortly after declaring my love for the doorman at Tiffany's that he informed me that I was meant to be in Little Collins Street instead. Oh the joys of a wrong address!!!! Not to mention an understanding husband who didn't mind my gush of affection when I told him of it later that night!!!

Anyway. back to the event at hand!!!

Kimberley, the founder of Escapade Events, did the most amazing job and is seriously to be congratulated!!! From the moment I walked in the room I was greeted beautifully with a card for my complimentary cocktail and a little card to write people's names on it and a common interest. This card once filled out was my entry into the door prize competition which had several prizes donated from various companies such as ladidah and even the Kitten Club itself.

There was lots of interaction between all the women there and it really did have such a great atmosphere. The food was really plentiful and delicous. So were the cocktails that continued flowing during the night too! The girls from Nailene were also there giving demos and doing manicures which was yet another example of such a lovely touch that Kimberley had thought of. I also appreciated the chance to meet and connect with women that I both didn't know yet, but also ones that I had interacted with on Twitter. So that was very nice to be able to put name to face, to personality too!!!

So all in all, it really was a very successful night from my point of view and I certainly hope so for Escapade Events too! Well done on your attention to detail, for making us all feel so welcome and for providing such a terrific event for us to meet new people!!! I look forward to your next one!
